Since the almost non existent sales of the 02-05 Civic Si, Honda as emphasized quite of bit of marketing the new FG Civic Si. Claiming they are going back to their roots in the import scene etc. You seen the commercials.

So what do you think? The new Si will be a prominent player again or no?

    I say no.

Maybe when the RSX is dropped from Acura then Honda will sell some more Si

But I see more people buying the Fit than the Si

yeah, i think that the Fit is going to win the hearts of the tuners... why buy a Civic Si when you can drop a K20 into a 2200lb Fit?

I think the new si will be very prominent due its design, lightness; offcourse by its horsepower.

the new si (fg) will capture some new tuners. but the people who are/were already into cars and modding them will sooner move to the fit. we look at things like weight and potential while newcomers look more for an out-of-the-box aappeal, which the si has over the dinky fit.

if honda wants to revive the sportiness in the civic, they need the type R. no questions asked. people know what japan and europe is getting, and they know theyre getting shafted.

the fit is the new civic.

i think the Fit is more appealing than the new Si, mainly due to the price difference. yes the Si is very performance oriented, with a more powerful motor, but the Fit stays a lot truer to Honda's roots. It is a cheaper, economical car that saves gas, and still is sporty at the same time. Plus, you can carry more stuff in a Fit and it is still a compact vehicle. And there is already an aftermarket full of countless parts for the Fit. So, I agree, the Fit is the new Civic. But, that's my opinion though.:) here's some pics of the Spoon Fit that Opak Racing races, the last pic is with the owner of Spoon Sports Japan, and I am guessing the owner of Opak Racing although I'm not too sure. but I'm sure the guy in the middle is Tatsuru Ichishima, "Director" ( or in other words, the owner) of Spoon Sports Japan. For those of you that didn't know, Opak Racing is a primary distributor for Spoon Parts in North America, just like King Motorsports is for Mugen. Kewl.=) Well, enjoy the pics.=)

Truer in what sense though? You're really getting what you pay for in terms of performance with the fit. The torsion beam in the rear coupled with the minivan-esque center of gravity are two things I wouldn't necessarily want in a budget performance car. Is the new SI overweight? Definitely. I have no idea why it weighs over 2800lbs but look at it's main competitors. The GTI is a staggering 3300lbs, the cobalt ss is over 3,000 pounds.

The list goes on. The car does a lot of things right, the mac setup upfront will always be an overwhelming piece of shit compared to the double-wishbone in the em1, but the much, much better center of gravity coupled with the dc5-r LSD, fatter brakes and much more linear powerband on the k20 will all be facts as to why it's just a much more rewarding car to drive. Times change, safety laws change and we're at a point where cars will never be the weight they were before, which is what hondas bread and butter were.

Hey the fit is not a bad little ride but if I had to pick it would be the FG2 hands down but with the right amount of money and time you can make it a beast
