My friend has a 97 maxima v6 and it starts and idles fine but as soon as you give it gas it stalls... it will rev in park and neutral but stalls in drive or reverse. When you rev it in neutral/park it makes a loud sound from the intake kinda like a SRI poping sound (the car is completely stock) We thought it was the fuel pump so i replaced it for her but that wasent the case. She also put about 3 courts to much oil in it but i drained it to spec. Not sure what it could be any help is apriciated.
ok first reset the ecu do this by taking the negative cable off the battery and leave it off for several minutes then return cable and start car and see what happens. sounds dumb but all the stored codes in the ecu could be causing something to go wrong
Ya i haven't tried reseting because no CEL. Ya it ran with the oil in it i think. Her dad told her it burns oil so she just put a quart every couple of days in it without checking. Ive never seen so much oil in a car before lol it was horrible. To me it seems like it would be a fuel issue other than it revs in park but not in drive. I'm going to reset it tomorrow and tell ya what happens but i appreciate all the help man
eh that sucks... Thats not something i could replace i dont think. You have to drop the trans for that right?
