Her name is Ai Takaoka, and is a regarded teacher of Japanese calligraphy (shodou) in Kyoto. The event was sponsored by Nissan Motors of Japan and drew many visitors into one of their showrooms in regional Kyoto.

The first model she painted is a new Nissan FUGA, and the character is kizuna (‚«‚¸‚È,ãJ), meaning bond or togetherness. To warm-up, you can see her paint the character yume (‚ä‚ß,–²), meaning dream, onto a large canvas. The crowd was very excited as she prepared by tying back her kimono sleeves with red cord and then painted the 4 to 5 million yen car using permanent paint!
