as the car sits, it has no interior. all thats left are the pedals, shifter, parking brake, heater core, and blower motor. gonna start cleaning and removing tar tomorrow. sorry, no pics right now. ill get some when i get home tomorrow.
75% of the sound deadening tar is gone. just have the front passenger side left to do. also found 3 holes in the floor from rust "Car is in very good shape rust wise.... ......No other rust anywhere. ANd the rust that is there is only surface rust."
pics of progress. i just used the hammer and chisel technique. id prefer dry ice, but im broke, and it was already pretty cold this morning. ill probably need some for the rear wheel wells though spare tire well has all the stuff i removed, just to give you an idea of how much is in there.
i might be getting an S14 KA for free. need a clutch, but ok otherwise. works out like this; original owner of the car sold me the car for $550 and a credit of $500 in labor that i have to do for him. (i was going to replace rod bearings, calling it even). well, his cousin might buy the SR, and give me his full KA swap if i do the rod bearings. but, i would still owe the original owner of the S13 his $500 labor credit for whatever he needs fixed. or i might charge him and buy a motor elsewhere. (i know of an S13 KA that has 'slight rod knock' for super cheap) we'll see.
so i misunderstood Frank (guy who's buying the SR and needs a clutch job on his S14 done. also a cousin of Edgar, the original owner of the car). I'm doing the rod bearings for the SR. Giving him the SR (id assume Edgar is selling it to Frank for some much needed money), and i get Frank's S13 KA24DE from his new chassis he's building. complete swap, everything i need. running total i've spent on this car: $550 - chassis Free - full chassis wiring Free - full KA24DE swap (awaiting arrival)
been doing some wiring work the ast week or so. everything is wired up in the front. hid the fuse boxes and junk. looks big and empty (unlike my MR2) i need to do something about that coolant reservoir. probably something aftermarket that i can hide somewhere else. i'm thinking about hiding the brake lines under everything, going along the subframe next to the steering rack. i might screw myself into making brake lines then... which isnt too big of a deal, just time consuming.
its not important. it's not staying in there. i just wanted to show the lack of wiring and fuse boxes in the engine bay.
