I've just bought a '93 civic with a d16y1 in it and ive recently found out that i have a blown headgasket [last night]..

I've done some research, looking at forums and what not and the procedure of changing the gasket itself is pretty simple, although many sites recomend that it is NOT a DIY job, I have a basic sound knowledge of how the engine works as this is my first project car, i just need some feedback if it is wise to do the procedure myself?
