Speedometer Issue

    ok so i have a 2000 civic ex (ej8) swapped with 96-99GSR and tonight as i was on my way to a car meet the speedometer started spazing out and when i barely pushed the gas pedal the needle would read different speeds it would jump from 60-80-140-120-50 and so on. then it just completly stopped but all the other guages work and i have no idea what to do. and then a little while after tht the cel came on. is that cuz of the speedo or what? anyone please help.

    CEL is most likely from the speedometer. Sounds like your VSS may have gone bad.

    the alternator going bad can make your gauges dance too but you would have a battery light on not a CEL so it probably is the vss.

    theyre pretty expensive at the local parts store. Mine would have been like $200 there. I got mine shipped on ebay for $40.
