2008 Subaru Imprezas *Hatchback only*...

    Subaru is expected to launch the next generation of Imprezas for their 2008 model year, this time around, they're throwing the sedan out the window and only offering the vehicle in three- and five-door hatchback editions. Perhaps even more interesting is that this new generation is being aimed squarely against the Volkswagen Golf GTI :twak:

    A base model Impreza will come equipped with 2.0-liter boxer engine, naturally aspirated, and capable of 170 horsepower. For true racing enthusiasts, there is no option but the 300hp STi, which will come with a turbocharged variant of Subaru's signature boxer engine.

    I guess they may feel threatened in the lower range class. I know VW has been heavily advertising their GTi against Japanese imports. Pretty funny comercials.

    I really dont see...

    I really dont see why they are worried about VW when they have WRX as a Heavy Opponent in Rally and on the Sales Floor...:confused:

    Yes that's for the STi version, but I believe they need to attract more entry level cars for higher company profits. I believe limited production cars such as the STi don't have a huge profit margin. Usually due to the parts and R&D costs.

    I may be wrong. What the hell do I know.:hithead:

    I think they should pic on Guys there own size like the new EVO 8... :twak:


    Imagine Subie making a Entry Level car that would rival Civic's Fuel Mileage...:rolleyes:

    top one is a chop. wagon rear roofline, old wing, and some other things make it possible to tell

    totally what I was thinking. You don't make hatchbacks with a big wing in the middle.

    And I would buy a hatchback STI
