i have heard of several setups...

    b18c5
    h22
    h23
    h22 block/ h23 head
    stock f22 block/ f20b head
    f20b
    f22

    all jdm unless otherwise stated...

which would be the best setup power wise and also best cost wise?

i wasnt aware that you could easily put a b-series motor into an accord, I know for a civic it is a simple swap, but not the accord.
    h23 = dohc non-vtec (no point)
No power in the f-series unless you boost

I say H22, assuming that you can easily do an H22 swap in the 4th gen accord like you can in the fifth...

here is a breakdown of the motors you posted...

    B18C5 1.8 16V DOHC VTEC PGM-FI 1797 195hp@7800rpm 130tq@7600rpm 98-01 Integra Type-R

    H22 2.2 16V DOHC VTEC PGM-FI 2157 190hp@6800rpm 152tq@5500rpm 94-97 Accord SiR

    H23 2.3 16V DOHC PGM-FI 2259 160hp@5800rpm 156tq@4500rpm 93-95 Prelude Type-S

    F22 2.2 16V DOHC PGM-FI 2156 160hp@6000rpm 148tq@5000rpm 92-96 Prelude Si

    F20B 2.0 16V DOHC VTEC PGM-FI 1955 149 kW 90-93 Accord Si-R

3rd gen can accept the Bseries easily. Not the 4th, but H22 swaps are easier in 4th gens, than 5th gens. You can use all Prelude mounts and brackets, and everything will bolt up perfectly.

As to the motor possiblities, I will list off...

    B18C5 - why?

H22A - good choice. I speak from personal experience.

H23A - ummm... you must love torque and hate Hp.

H22block/H23head - I think you have it backwards. H23 heads are weak.

F22block/F20Chead - This is where the F and H families get confusing. The heads are not 100% interchangable. several mods must be done for a H22 head to fit on the SOHC F22 block. The H23 head will work, but not the H22. The F20B is basically a H22A-typeS motor with less displacement. It was destroked to 2.0 liters. it makes it VERY rev happy (like 9K, with the manual ECU), but you loose torque. Makes the most HP of any stock Hseries motor, even though it was named for a Fseries. I REALLY can go on, but there's TONS of info that I have learned recently as to F and H series engines.

    F20B - already covered.

F22 - SOHC, great for boost. DOHC, nice motor, but don't expect miracles. It's like 40hp over what you have now.

What would you recomend for a fith gen accord for an easier swap, a B18C5 (if it can be done) or a hybrid f22 block with a h23 head ?
