The Engine is CLEAN Perfect Condition The V8 engine is world-class. With 250 horsepower this engine will accelerate the car from a standing start to 60 MPH in 7.9 seconds with a sound that is akin to ripping silk. This car is quieter at full throttle then most cars are at light cruising speed. The transmission is a perfect match for the engine. At light throttle acceleration, the only way you will know when the transmission shifts is by watching the tach needle. It’s that smooth. A 4 liter V8, is not a very large engine for a luxury car. Lexus kept the size down in order to keep the gas mileage up and avoid the gas guzzler tax. Other cars in its class like the Infiniti Q45 couldn't make that claim. The disadvantage to a smaller engine is that it lacks sharp throttle response. Tap the throttle to move up into the traffic flow with an Infiniti Q45 with its 4.6 liter engine and it goes right now. With Lexus, you sometimes have a slight lag while the transmission smoothly shifts down before it takes off like a silent rocket. But, for conservative driving and an occasional blast onto the Interstate on-ramp, the Lexus LS400 can't be beat. Cruising down the highway, this is one of the quietest cars on the road, right up to its 150 MPH top speed. (No, I didn't test Lexus’ top-speed claim for this car.) If it can reach that speed, then you know the engine is loafing at all realistic speeds. On the other side of the coin, this car needs premium fuel and the gas mileage is on the low end of acceptable at an EPA rating of 18 MPG city and 23 highway.

I am starting to like the VIP style a lot more now. The inspiration pics are amazing. Can't wait to see it with the air bags and the wheels.
Quick VIP Rules to Study.... I had to Study VIP for some Years before I Jumped Into It Head First. I allways wanted an VIP LS400 ever Since I had My Civic. One of the Major Rules of VIP is Platform and Wheel Fitment. Everything else is an Accessory. Example: All VIP Cars Platform should be Japanese, V8, Four Door, and Rear Wheel Drive. Those that dont Fit this Platform is Considered a Style of VIP. It took me some time to Search for the Correct Platform. I wanted Black Leather Interior, most LS400s I Found in Good Condition had Tan Leather. I was Looking for an Executive Black Limo Apperance. First I will get Correct Fitment then Nice Black Kit. Im Thinking of gettting Black Wood Grain Tables an Curtains. I will also add other Luxurous Accents but First I will Strive for A Perfect Wheel Fitment.. :rocks:
yes, lower and wheel fitment first and foremost. not until that is perfect should you go on from there. im interested to see where you'll end up
I honestly didn't know that. Too bad older RL's aren't V8s because I'd love to get a 1G RL like this: (I'm biased to Honda/Acura), but wouldn't it be just VIP style and not VIP. Src: http://rl.acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=501503
Platform is First Your 100% Right. I was Going to do a Legend. But I wanted a True VIP CAR. The Legend Didnt fit the Bill. I had to First Pick the Correct Platform. VIP Car starts with just that, The Platform or the Car. Its not a VIP Car unless it starts with one of these cars. "From Toyota, you have the Century, Celsior, Aristo, Crown, and Majesta. From Nissan you have the President, Cima, Gloria, Cedric, and the Q45." Exceptions, = K-Car and Style Wagon. Any other Platform is Is Just Styling Cues of VIP. In Turn Means VIP Style, and that is Ok.
Fitment is Second. You Know I had to go by the Rules. Imagine a Lexus LS400 with Curtains, Tables, FUSA on Rear View Mirror, and Junction Produce Kit. The Only Thing is It has Stock 16s with Stock Suspension Sitting 3 Fingers from Wheel to Fender. It wouldn't be VIP it would just have accessories. = Incomplete. Now Imagine the Same LS400 with No Curtains or Kit. Just Slammed Coils or Bags with 19's Fender Kissing the Lip w/ 100% Correct Fitment. = Complete. Kinda Like Brandcius LS400 You can Click for his Build. I Really Learned from Others Mistakes. I decided UpFront to Save for Fitment First to have a ComPlete Build. Im Going for Award Winner This Time So Stay Tuned ... :woot:
I can't wait to see updates on this project. Sucks that the RL wouldn't be VIP, but I guess VIP style is good too especially that black RL i posted, which is on fire!
have you thought about coilovers. or coilovers with air cups. i heard some of the hardcore og's in japan run coilovers only and think that it the only way to go. but ive been thinking about the coilover with aircup setup for my IS300 and i've been thinking about getting a gs when i get back from germany. with basicly the same plan of attack you have. slam then rims. the fatter the better :leghump: but i dont think all vips have to be v8's i dont think the aristo in japan come in v8. nice looking car also, the ls is just to big for me i think that why i've been thinking about the gs, but i might test drive a ls just to see if i like it.
