 hi everyone, i have a question that hopefully somebody knows the answer to...when doing a head swap, would you need the wiring harness and ECU for that swap. the reason i ask is because i was thinking of swapping the non-vtec head on my 97 D16Y7 motor with a Vtec head from a 96-00 civic EX. could i use my Y7's wiring harness? do i need both the EX engine bay wiring harness, as well as the interior wiring harness from an EX? as you can see, i'm a little flustered. i just wanna know what parts i would need to do this swap, so i can make a list and get price estimates before i do it. thanks for your help folks, and hopefully someone can shed some light on this topic. alohaz.=)

Just did this swap but with a Z6 head.

    What you need:
    Y8 head
gaskets (intake mani, exhaust mani, headgasket)
timing belt (use the Z6 belt)
wire to wire up the VTEC or just get an EX wiring harness (I recommend the harness since it is cleaner and there are a lot of possible problems with mickey mouse wiring)

I also got new OEM plugs, NGK wires, and a few other things since they usually aren't the same between heads.
