one more thing i have a honda crv that im doing a b16 head swap on and the only thing holding me back is the ecu control because my car is an automatic
could i use the vafc to control the vtec and just keep my stock ecu to control the tranny and stuff

no you cant. all the VAFC will do is alter the signal to the ECU so it thinks that vtec is supposed to be activated at say 4200 rpm instead of 4800 or whatever it is stock. it still requires a vtec ecu. so no, it will not work. i tried this with my lsvtec to avoid buying an ecu.
