Was watching CNBC this morning and they were talking about Ford and Toyota forming a merger/alliance. Great, Ford engines in Toyotas and vice versa... thoughts? I say no! Domestics and Imports should be seperate and different, IMHO.

let me be the outcast that voted yes and i'll tell you why.
first 2 reasons might sound dumb but they are true
    1. fords suck
    2. toyotas dont

this will help both companies why you ask ok i'll tell you what i think about it
    1. ford will be able to make use of the far superior toyota tech. and bussnes skills and toyota can use ford to fruther expand its interests in the usa and europe, ie if you can make a yaris and a vitz next door to a focus and such them you can put them on the same boat truck just oone example
    2. and adding to ford would be to easy if they picked up even just a few of toyota habbits then it would see greater profits lower cost and such
I'm not sure if anyone know this but toyota is probly the best most efficent auto companies, their practices are followed around the world by all types of companies not just auto makers
plus this greatly increases the chance of seeing another toyota super car into production and possibly a shared chassis with (choke) maybe a better for sports car and better ford engines just imagin a the possiblities and this wouldnt be the first time toyota put its part in amrican cars
look at the vibe and toyotas not the nly one doing it honda has done it too
in some non honda mini vans and the newer saturn suv

now that im sure i stirred the pot lets see what others think

I heard about GM and Ford, but I think that was just a rumor.

I don't even want to see this going through. I don't think it should happen. The quality of cars would go down from Toyota. Just like what happened when Mazda became part of Ford and Jaguar. Sorry, they're not like they used to be. In my opinion, Toyota should be it's own independant company.

    Lanchester (as Jaguar/Daimler division)
    Land Rover
    Lincoln
    Mazda
    Mercury
    Merkur
    Rover (marquee name only)
    Volvo (passenger vehicles only)

okay... here's the thing, i really really doubt that toyota would hook up with anybody.

reason #1: they are the number one leading car manufacturer in the world.

there is no reason that they would have to partner with someone.

the ONLY way that they'd do something like this is if they were buying out ford. however that's just as unlikly considering even though ford reported record losses this quarter they are still making a hell of a lot of money.

I'm with Peter. I doubt Toyota would do anything like this. Probably just hearsay. Toyota is the sales giant right now, and is scaling up for some HUGE stuff in 08. LOTS of awesome concepts are in the works for production. I'm, for once, syked about what Toyota has up thier sleeve.

    wrong.

i doubt that ford could afford to buy out toyota... seeing as they are now officially the number one leading car manufacture in the world... ford is somewhere below deewoo :spitdrink:
