:baby: 1. My coolant hoses seem very swollen all of a sudden! Coolant temperature not rising though! any thought ? Motor has Mugen Thermostat, switch and Cap. 2. Do I really need any coolant hoses going to the TB, IAC, or the oil filter how about the coolant hose that goes from the IM to the thermostat housing? Can I just cut a hose put a stainless steel bolt and clap shut? Your thoughts and help is what should be going around and is appreciated! Please if you have no knowledge or just think you know what say, do not respond. I need straight knowledge
the one to the oil filter area is going to an oil to water oil cooler. it passes coolant around the oil passage way to cool it down. id keep it if youd like to keep your engine longer the IAC (idle air control) valve is just that. it controls your idle RPM depending on engine temperature. it gets you engine warmer, quicker. by doing this, your ECU will go into closed loop (not dumping excess amounts of fuel, and reading off the O2 sensors) quicker. it is also good for your emissions because the sooner the engine heats up, the sooner the catalytic converters can heat up and start working. im not too sure about the ones going to the thermostat. those are outputs from the engine though, so id keep them. without them your engine wouldnt get rid of the coolant, and youd overheat.
All I can say is dont bypass your IAC or FITV (fast idle thermo valve, which is under your throttle body) it will make your car idle up and down when its cold and its really annoying.
Oil cooler hey! Thank you very much! how about the swollen hoses and the temp staying normal? Again, thank you!
which ones are swollen, exactly? is the thermostat facing the wrong way? (some cars you can install it backwards) swollen coolant hoses are a sign that something is blocking flow (clogged) or that your radiator cap is not venting excess pressure.
it is very possible. id start with replacing the radiator cap (autozone has some for like $4) and the hoses
all a new radiator cap does is have different rated springs in them to allow the coolant to flow to the overflow tank and also the other way. if pressure is increased in the cooling system then the boiling point of the liquid inside will b higher. there is an equation to figure it all out i can get it if you want it. so if the cap is 14 psi and you put one for 16 psi then you will increase the boiling point by x amount.
Already :nono: I already have the cap. it's the cap that's giving me problems! The coolant hoses are swollen but maintains normal coolant temp.
how long have your hoses been swollen? recently or for a long time? Im sure the quality control for Mugen rad caps is really good, but you might have a defective one. ya never know. good luck!
Mugen Cap The coolant hoses are fairly new! When I put the stock back on, the hoses don't get swollen. No one has ever had this problem. I got it from Inlinefour.com I called them, asked and there tech wasn't in. Inlinefour said they call back, never did! I'll call them back!
well good to see that the stock one works fine. keep an eye on it though, just to make sure. hope you get the cap sorted out with inlinefour
