FUCK :evil: well so i'm driving back to school with my buddy mike [no not mike silver hatch mike, mike green celica gt mike] and wouldn't you know it my motor starts to make this really bad sound... think metal on metal contact with a pinging/clanking sound.... add to that it looses power and starts to misfire... crap. so i nurse it back to my college and procede to loose the engine in the parking lot. dead... coast into the spot and proceede to curse all things car. from the initial sound i figured that i had lost a valve down into one of the cylinders however i was just pissed and went inside. Mike [who i have to thank later very much cause he is finishing my schoolwork as we speak. a big :thumbup: to him] and i started to look online for an engine. then went back to class. tired of the teachers BS i decided to gimp the 240 home while it was still in sorta running contition [i hoped] or at least get a head start on the towing if needed. luck be sotra with me cause it started... and ran... kinda every time i let my foot off the throttle the car would die. it ran fine sorta but the banging clanking sound was still ever present. made it home and started posting **WTB Chicagoland area KA24DE Engine** threads on every 240 site i could think of. having nothing better to do i ripped the valvecover off and inspected the valvetrain [considering that's what i thought that it was] nope. nothing not one dropped vlave. turns out that i have a severe case of rod knock compounded by a spun bearing [i think] and another thing... my front main seal is leaking and i had next to no oil well now there's yer problem ~ Adam Savage so here i sit trying to track down an engine.. might go SR20 if i have to... idk yet it'll depend on what i can do... i hate cars... the only consolation is that i can do all the labor myself saving me a good amount of money... the suck part is that i don't really have that much to begin with :ermm: cliff notes; my motor is FUBAR i need a new one grr...
wow dude that sux....i kinda know the feeling...had to replace tranny, clutch, flywheel, brakes, rotors all in 1 hit....and i didnt do the labor myself...so yea...thats an unexpected hit...but good luck.....sr20 wouldnt be bad in that car ....
