Well I am new to the world of engine building so I dont know about the down sides of block guards at all. I havent had any of my friends mention anything to me about it and they all know their shit but if anyone has some input id be interested too.
yeah exactly ive never heard any downsides to running them either lol but back on track good lick with that its looking like alot fun so far haha
Heres a few bonus rolling shots I didnt post up to remind me of what having a car that drives is like. Its been weeks, its killing me! I just wanna be putting it all together already! Well I got tired of not making progress on my car so I figured id do something to feel constructive. Heres a teaser, it looks way better in proper lighting.
I took the manifold and throttle body up to my friends shop to put them in the acid tank and I ended up getting the manifold powder coated for free
manifold looks good. i did a valve cover like that a while ago but silver with blood splatter but doesnt even look half that good lol. on the letter how did you get them to stay bare metal? did you sand them back down?
I worked on the car for a while today. Ive always wanted to delete my ABS cause it didnt even work and there is a HUGE ABS pump thats so ugly too. So today I went to the junk yard and the only thing there was a 95 4 door but I took the lines and MC anyways. Now I just need to get the 40/40 prop valve and ill be good. I started stripping the engine bay too. Im gonna take it up to the shop any day now where ill build it/paint the bay/wire tuck it. Heres some pics of the head liner. I didnt have my tripod and it was getting dark out so they dont look good.
Heres a few quick pics. The motor is out and disassembled. Tomorrow the rotating assembly is getting balanced and the work continues! The blown tranny thats getting replaced.
looking good dude. i really like the coupe body style. keep us updated. my cars abs doesn't work either.... (probably due to the jumper in the fuse box that the guy i bought it from put in lol)
Thanks man, and yea ABS is for people who cant drive anyways haha. there u go lol I dont remember all that ish, i just look it up when I need it. Here are the updates for today, nothing major. I got the block stripped. It was filthy so I degreased it, pressure washed it, and painted it silver. Pressure washed the engine bay as well, also really dirty. Thats my friends soon to be boosted b2200 in the background, notice the interfooler. He just blew his shit too lol. Lastly, a teaser of what is to come.
A few more things done today. Got the harness almost done. Finished painting the engine bay. Got all the new brake lines installed. I also put some fresh undercoating down in the wheel wells. Looks way better in person. Im doing more when the shocks are out too.
its coming along good man. i wish i had that much room to work on my project, i have like a 10 by 20 garage. no joke lol
yea, I usually do most of my work in the street. Thankfully my friend is cool enough to let me use his shop. Heres basically how the harness is gonna look. Thats all youre gonna see anywhere in the bay. Its not a "complete" tuck but its good enough for me. and heres the new transmission
the engine is gonna be silver with a lot of bright new shiney goodies. Just wait till you see it all together and youll see why im keeping it black
How she sits now. Trying to figure out wtf is up with this benen radiator mount! Fresh block, decked, painted and block guard installed. Machining the flywheel Weisco pistons, you can see where they were balanced. Heres one of the old pistons, they were all cracked as you can see on this one if you look closely. What caused this? The timing was close, just over running it at 12psi? Pistons and rods coming together. Too bad the rings were the wrong size, just one more delay! Random shot of the ACL race bearings.
