not much going on with the car lately. but today i noticed that the serpintine belt was a bit aged. it was dry and cracking. so a trip to the parts store and i have a new one. im currently waiting for the car to cool enough to work on it (bay gets VERY hot with that header once warmed up)

i also picked up a Bosch oil filter (see my other thread about oil filters HERE) because toyota was closed on sundays.

[rant]why the hell are most auto places closed on sundays?! i dont know about you guys, but to me, a nice relaxing sunday working on your car is always nice. i seem to do the majority of the work on my car on sundays. it just sucks when places are closed so you cant get parts! [/rant]

anyway... the sticker on my car says the next change is at 53,9xx miles. im just over 52,xxx. the sticker was on there when i got the car at 50,077 miles. so this 4,000+ oil change isnt what i want. every 2-3k for me. filter every time. (im a bit obsessive)

no pictures because no camera still. but it's not like it is anything interesting anyway.

So when we gonna install my coilovers? :D

I'm installing the springs on the struts now so all we have to do is remove the old and put on the new.

    i caved in :devious:

i bought some Espelir springs. 2" drop all around. lower than Tein S.Tech (F:1.4" and R:1.2"). cheaper too.

for those who dont know, Espelir is owned by Mackin Industries. the same company that owns Volk/Rays Engineering, Advan/Yokohama, ARC, Project Mu, Koito (who makes a lot of OEM lights), and some others. quality products really.

i installed some of these on a SC300 last year. the guy really liked them. he had them paired with some KYB GR2 struts (the non-adjustable KYB's). this car is mainly a daily driver, so comfort is important.

coilovers will be next spring/summer. i have more time to worry about that and save up for something really nice.

2" drop my ass. it was lowered about 1.25" or so. i drove it around the block and back, to mike's (ek hatchback/mikey) house to return his spring compressor, and just now to work. looks like how the car shouldve come from the factory. 1" (finger and a half) or so of wheel gap. not bad, but not awesome. im hoping it still has room to settle. those springs are THIN! though it is 2kg/mm front and 3kg/mm rear. (stock is like 1.7/2.5)

took me 1.5 hrs to install them, including a 20 minute lunch break. the ride is as smooth as stock, but it firms up in the corners. i just got used to the oem suspension, so i now need to readjust. still looking into the Koni strut inserts. cant find any MR-S who has them for ny opinions.

pictures tomorrow. gotta wait until i can borrow someone's camera.

You're right, it didn't drop much at all. The KWs would lower it substantially.
