so what are your opinions on this company?

personally, i dont think a business should make money by using other peoples designs and making them cheaper. not a very curtious thing to do, which goes against japanese business etiquette.

    discuss.

ROTA!!!! THE WORST SH!T OUT!!! The wheels are made in the phillipines, and aside from the fact that they "look" great, they are junk. Would be nice for a show car that doesnt see the track, but what show car puts crap on there car. I had a set on my daily, bumped a curb while turning at 15 mph, the wheels snapped in half!!! Im a firm believer in cheap nice wheels, look at my car. But my wheels weigh out in the 10 lb range, and are casted so well 2 didnt even need weights for balancing. In my opinion, I will never buy ROTA again. I am in the wheel business, and need decent product to back up.

I hate them, and especially when people think there all about "Jdm Style" and have them.:eek:hsnap: But also they are taking over;along with other knockoff parts. I saw on another forum a newb was talking about rims and he thought the Spoon sw388, copied the slipstream wtf:poke:
But then ago I shouldnt care what other people do to there cars. But theres my opinion on rota:)

    I hate threads like this.

    Damn you Kev!:banghead: :chair:

    HAHA J/K. LOL:p

Fucking stop comparing rota to other actual "racing" wheels.

Honestly do you think that ROTA really cares.

People always end up saying " f**K this and that" BLA BLAH BLAH. And whining like little babies. I have helped setup suspension/ footwork on several race cars from drag racing to Road racing. IF YOU WANT A RELIABLE GOOD PRODUCT DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON STUPID MODS. DO NOT SACRAFICE QUALITY FOR STYLE

Rota has been around for years. They have been Racing for years. Will be around for years to come.

It wasnt until everyone and their mother wanted to Have Spoon replica wheels, hoping and tricking themselves into believeing that they were of the same quality of the Desmonds. Then try and act like Ralph Schumaker when something happened they complained like little girls because they werent the same quality as The Desmond Design. Come on Guys.

Rotas are your averagely designed wheel.

I know racers who have knowingly bought ROTA wheels for racing and never had problems.

GET OFF THE ROTA HATING BAND WAGON.

And "suckawillis" that doesnt sound like a bump, that sounds like a crash.

It was a bump, a rear right wheel hit the curb while turning right. the car didnt even slide at all, just bam wheel snapped. it was a slipstream. And I would never put a rota on the level of a desmond, I am just stating if you are ging to buy cheap wheels, try something made a little better. :rocks:

I didnt even read the first post in this thread. HAHA

Kev, were have you been the last century.:D lol.

Thats like saying, Why does a company make a copy of the IPOD. Or why do cell phone companies copy each other's designs. Or even why do people make similar looking shoes.

There is no etiquette in Business. It's all about making money.

Once the Patent was up on the design Rota jumped at a chance to make money. And they did.

    :twak:

The thing is if you buy cheap you get cheap. It's not like the wheels are made individually. They are made in giant casts. Then sent to the company so stickers can be put on the wheels. the same wheel you buy from Rota, you by Drag, You by from all the different companies.. They will all be the same quality.

    Save up.

Or buy them and dont complain.:)

i don't really care either way. i saw my ROTA flights first [didn't even see the wheel that they were "copying"] and fell in love with them. i don't claim them to be real "JDM" wheel nor do i care that they are copys. in fact i saw the rim that rota "copied" and didn't like it at all...

    w/e i'd rather curb a $110ea rim then a $425ea rim

it's not a matter of if i'll curb my car it's a matter of when

I agree and I think that's kinda shady. Being a graphic artist myself, I'd be pissed if I made a unique design and someone copied it and made money off it. Think about how the designer of the Volk and Work wheels must feel when Rota comes by and copies it and makes an inferior product.

The ironic thing is that my wheels right now are Rota Grids which are the Volk TE37 knock off. I got these back in the day when I knew nothing about wheels and little about the scene. Next wheels will be either SSR Competitions, Volk TE37s, or Mugen MF-10s.
