Ok some of you may have noticed the little GREEN BOX near your name, this is your REPUTATION or REP Meter. Users vote for other user's reputation (by clicking on the play button ) in the posts, and it's weighted by how "important, helpful or popular" they are within the forum. Everyone starts with a reputation of 10 You can alter other people's reputation by 1 point by default For every 365 days after you register, your altering power increases by 1 For every 1,000 posts, your altering power also increases by 1 For every 100 reputation points that other's give you, your altering power increased by 1 User must have at least 50 posts before they can affect other's reputation You must have a reputation of 10 or higher to be able to affect others (it's 10 by default) You can alter up to 10 user's reputations per day You must alter different user's reputations before you can alter the same user's again For example. I see a thread made by 97-ferio about (example) a Do-It-Yourself Fuel Regulator Install. I will simply click the Play Button from his post and click on the "I approve" and leave a comment. He just gained a point. When he reaches a 100 points from repution recieved from this he will gain another green box . This is called Reputation, your goal is to contribute as much good knowledge, friendly advice or a welcoming attitude to gain REP. You can give REP to others for any posts you like. Remeber you can only give 10 REPS per day and you need to spread it around before leaving another REP again, meaning I can't give 97-ferio 10 REPS in one day etc. You can check your recent REPs received on your "My Options" button. http://www.jdmchat.com/usercp.php NEGATIVE REP - This is for those who may give poor advice, uncalled for remarks, or simply a bad attitude, you can give a "I disapprove" Rep, If the member has a low rep, his Green can become Negative and turn Neutral or if enough negative is received your rep can turn Red . Note: It will cost you -1 from your REP to leave a NEG for another user, so be sure it was worth it.. Please don't purposely try to get negative RED REP just to try it, as your actions may also violate the forum guidelines. Well that's the quick explanation, I hope all REP given is Green. Happy REP-ing! Any questions you may have let me know and I will try to answer them.
To piggyback on what Daniel said...(hehe, 97-ferio) Please don't abuse this on one liner answers like "ROFLMAO" or something silly! Let's try and keep it to the three guidlines Daniel set into the mix please? I will also do the same when I leave reputations! I am not a moderator with a right to place down rules, so it is more like a friendly member to member request, to help us all out, and keep it real!
You can use reputation for what ever you want, I encourage to give rep to those who are really deserve it by being helpful, friendly and have good posts by contributing good content. This won't be monitored at all. This is a chance for users to sort of vote their opinions about other users presence in the community. I believe REP is confidential unless in your comment your put your user name.
like he said, that was just an example this is good stuff to know, and i'll keep this in mind from now on.
Pretty sweet if you ask me. Daniel, you just keep filling this board with tons and tons of stuff! Awesome job!
this site is getting to complicated IMO, points, rep, gifts, lotteries, all sorts of stuff, what ever happened to creating a forum?
This is a forum...a very fun forum with options to partake in or not to partake in, right? Come on young one (lol) get with the times! :roflmao:
Well, your profile does say you are 21 years old right? I am 22 years old meaning you are younger than me so..."young one" is just a fun term.
