    Hi,
I have a 98 civic with b16a, raised compression with CTR pistons, stock head gasket, port and polish, 4-2-1 header....I know that for a stock b16 the grade of a sprak plug is 6, I have been recommended to drop 1 grade or even 2, meaning to get a 7 grade spark plug....My question is if I have to change the gap to 1.1 because grade 7 spark plugs come with a 0.8 gap....also is it really necessary to change the grade?
    thank you

using colder plugs makes the engine less prone to pre-mature detonation. a colder plug cools more quickly after being fired so that it doesnt ignite the next mixture ahead of time. wider gapped plugs expose a larger amount of the air & fuel mix to the spark which in turn equals a better, more equal combustion. you want to run as cold of a plug as you can but on the other hand, if your ignition system cannot spark the plugs consistantly (be it too cold of a plug or too much of a gap) the plugs will foul.
