Can anybody explain to me why most Hondas have that silly wind-up sound when they back up (reverse)?

Straight-cut reverse gear with no synchro. All foreward gears are cut at an angle and have synchronizers. This is why when you put a Honda in reverse, sometimes you find it easier to go into gear if you shift into 4th before you go to reverse. Because there is no synchro on the reverse gear. And the wind-up noise is because the gear is cut straight instead of angled.

OH! Thanks! Why don't they just make it an angled cut so I don't sound like tamborine monkey?
