Honda today revealed the 2007 Honda Civic Type-R 3-Door Concept. The hatchback is described as a concept, but strongly hints at what the production car will look like when it reaches the market in 2007. The car is powered by a 200 horsepower 2.0-litre, DOHC i-VTEC unit, the same high-reving engine as used in the outgoing model. It was a bone of contention that the U.S. missed out on the most potent version of the last Honda Civic — the 200-hp three-door Type R. And it seems unlikely that the Type R version of the new Civic will make to our shores because it will be built exclusively at the Honda plant in Swindon, England and uses the three-door body which is not offered in the U.S. The new Type R was presented in vivid yellow as a concept car, simply because the production version will not be available in Europe until the end of this year, after lesser three-door versions have appeared. The power supply is unchanged — a high-revving but naturally-aspirated 2.0-liter i-VTEC engine.
