hey whats up,im new to this website so i just want to start off by saying hello to everyone....i made this thread becuase i have a question that is very confusing for me and probably easy easy for most of you..i just wanted to know ,can you put a turbo in a DA? i know you can but my friends pops is a mechanic and he said if you a turbo on a regular engine the motor will mess up...he said you got to get it balanced or blue printed ...if this is true please explain why and how much this might cost ...thanks
Ok... Yes, If you just slap any turbo on any motor and expect it to run properly, your outta luck, No, You do not have to balance or blueprint in preparation for a turbo. Furthermore, it is all in the tuninghsnap: If you find the right tuner, you can turbo anything:thumbup: Now if I'm wrong, someone please correct me because I don't like giving out false info Sorry my response isn't very long, but I'm out the door as I type I will elaborate more later
The b18a/b had a fairly low compression ratio at 9.2:1, ive seen properly tuned bone stock ls engines pushing 15psi at the track, 8-12psi on the street
Yeah, But psi means nothing, in a way, Becuase 12PSI on a little 14b is much diffrent than 12psi on a super t3 ETC.. yeah, Normally the B18a/b will hold about 300WHP before the sleeves start to crack. NORMALLY. I wouldnt go above 250 just to be safe IMO that would put you above 200 Wtrq in most cases, which is plenty There are many who have done better. Like he said above, Its all in the tuning. But before you go slapping on a turbo you want to do some things first, You want to make sure that its doing ok to begin with, Do a compression check, leak down test etc..... Do a tune up and stuff, You want it to be running good before you go adding a turbo, I was thinking about adding a T3 .42/.48 onto my DA. but this was before I blew the motor, I now have a B16A swap from HMO, and that little T3 .42/.48 wont really keep up, with the extra RPMS the Vtec engine provides, Think of it like this when your looking for a turbo. Its like shoes, You dont want something too big, But you dont want something too small, You want something that fits just right, So be sure to do lots of reading and stuff, Guess I went alittle more than just answering yes or no, Well, good luck
