ok so i know alot of you guys have painted you valve covers yourself and they look awesome and i was wondering if there is any special prep work or techniques that you guys know of but my main worry is the temperature. i dont know if i need to put a high heat primer down first of if the rattle can paint will hold up to the heat? any help will be much appreciated and i need it asap as well thank you and have a nice day
anyone? im getting views but no replies. help me out as i have already started prep work and need to know by the time im done
Well I don't think your valve cover gets that hot compared to say your block. So the rattle can high heat paint will work just fine. My friend used crinkle spray paint on his LS. It turned out flawless. Texture looks just like a B series valve cover. Make sure you get it really clean. Degreased. Self etching primer is also good for painting onto metal. Hope this helps.
so would i be able to use a high heat paint as a primer and then paint just regular rattle can paint on top of that and would it hold up to the heat?
Really Easy 1) Just Make Sure you Remove the Valve Cover. 2) Then Clean that Cover Spotless of Debris. 3) Apply High Heat Primer. 4) Apply Paint (Can / Brush / Marker... etc) 5) Apply Clear Optional 6) Add Stickers / Decals :drum: http://jdmchat.com/showthread.php?t=5034
